Jesus taught and still teaches that a relationship is dependent on agreement. An agreement to love ONE ANOTHER (John 13:34-35). It is literally the definition of the word covenant.

The fabric of this truth is that a person must give PERMISSION to be loved and make the EFFORT to love. If walls are erected, FOR WHATEVER EXCUSE, the relationship is injured. If enough walls are erected the relationship expires or becomes simply observational but dead nonetheless.

Sometimes the walls are so high the person can no longer see over them and can only imagine what is on the other side. At that moment in time, the definition of the relationship is turned over to the deceiver. He is thrilled to neuter the power of each receiver and giver in relationship. “He comes to kill, steal, and destroy.” (John 10:10a) It matters not to him how long it takes as long as it takes.

Interestingly, the wall must be deconstructed by the one who constructed it. If that is you, find your hard hat and get busy. If it is the other person in relationship, pray they find their deconstruction equipment.

Encouragement: Tear down your destructive relationship walls even if you don’t know what is on the other side. Let YOUR eyes see through the Jesus love-filter and not the death-blinders of the deceiver.

Tip: A wall exists or is under construction when angst is present.

It is like that for us with Jesus.
